 Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program
This program is in addition to PQRI program, Eligible professionals do not have to be reporting in the Physician Quality Reporting program to participate in the eRx Incentive program.
 
What is eRx

eRx is a prescriber’s ability to electronically send an accurate, error-free and understandable prescription directly to a pharmacy from the point-of-care and is an important element in improving the quality of patient care. The transmission, using electronic media, of prescription or prescription-related information between a prescriber, dispenser, pharmacy benefit manager or health plan either directly or through an intermediary, including an eRx network. eRx includes, but is not limited to, two-way transmission between the point of care and the dispenser.
 
CMS introduced new hardship code that should be reported during Jan 1 2011 through June 30th 2011 if not those providers will 1% Physician fee schedule adjustment in the year 2012.
We have few exceptions in below condition.

Rural Area without internet access Procedure code G8642
Limited accepting eRx pharmacies Procedure Code G8643
Eligible Professional does not have prescribing privileges we can use procedure code G8644

Claim Submitting

Need to submit procedure G8553 with $0 when at least one eRx created when during the patient encounter and the Rx was generated and transmitted electronically using a qualified eRx system.

eRx Incentive Payment

Incentive 2% for 2009 and 2010, 1% for 2011 and 2012 and 0.5% for 2013

For eligible professional who are not using eRx by 2012 1% payment adjusted and 2013 1.5% and 2% from 2014 and beyond

Rejection Procedure note qualifier is missing

  Need to check the Charges tab and double click on the Procedure Code line to open up the Charge Entry window. There is a Notes section on the right hand side. If there is a note typed, we need to select the type.   Need to select field and select the appropriate type of note you are sending.   Save the changes made   Check all the procedure if submitted many procedure.   Save the visit again and submit the claim.
